1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ClipForge ("the Service", "we", "us", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms in full, you must not use the Service. Your continued use of ClipForge constitutes your ongoing acceptance of any future revisions to these terms.

2. Description of Service

ClipForge is a fully client-side, browser-based video editing tool that allows users to trim and crop video files locally on their own devices. The Service utilises ffmpeg.wasm — a WebAssembly port of FFmpeg — to perform all video processing directly in the user's browser.

  • No video files are transmitted to any server or third party.
  • No user account or registration is required.
  • All computation occurs entirely within your own browser session.
  • The Service is provided at no cost and without warranty of any kind.

3. "As Is" Disclaimer

ClipForge is provided strictly on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no representations or warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
  • Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any output.
  • Warranties that defects or bugs will be corrected.

Your use of the Service is entirely at your own risk.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ClipForge and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of, or corruption of, video files or other data.
  • Processing errors, incomplete exports, or unexpected output.
  • Browser crashes, memory exhaustion, or hardware limitations.
  • Any loss of business, revenue, or profits.
  • Any other loss arising from your use of the Service.

This limitation applies regardless of whether we have been advised of the possibility of such damages and regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise).

5. User Responsibilities

You are solely and exclusively responsible for:

  • All video content you upload and process using ClipForge.
  • Ensuring you hold all necessary rights, licences, and permissions for any content you process.
  • Not processing content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Not using the Service to process illegal, harmful, or abusive content.
  • Maintaining backups of your original files before processing.
  • Ensuring your browser and hardware are capable of handling your chosen files.

6. Intellectual Property

The ClipForge interface, branding, and code are the intellectual property of ClipForge and its operators. ffmpeg.wasm is used under its respective open-source licence (LGPL). You retain all rights to any video content you process. ClipForge claims no ownership over your content.

7. No Uptime Guarantee

We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted availability of the Service. The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, third-party CDN outages (e.g. the ffmpeg.wasm CDN), or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses resulting from Service downtime.

8. Data Loss

Because all processing occurs in your browser, your files are never stored by us — but this also means we cannot recover lost work. Browser crashes, tab closures, or memory limits may result in loss of your editing session. We strongly recommend keeping the original file safely backed up before use.

9. Third-Party Services

ClipForge loads the ffmpeg.wasm library from a public CDN (unpkg.com). Use of this CDN is subject to unpkg's own terms of service. We are not responsible for the availability or conduct of any third-party CDN or external resource.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
